The planner decides from your planning target and media label. Below 8 TB with no transcoding need, a 2-bay mirror. At 8 TB and above, or if you may need hardware transcoding, 4-bay. Intervals are half-open: 7.96 stays 2-bay. Near that line the target is shown to two decimals so 7.96 is not printed as 8.0.

No. A mirror or single-parity volume survives one drive failure. Fire, theft, ransomware and a mistaken delete still win. If you told the planner you have no off-site copy, the result says so.

We would be inventing a ticket that is already stale. Amazon UK and Scan hold live price and stock. The buttons are search links.

Your TV or phone plays the file as stored. The NAS is not converting it. If most of your clients can do that, pick Mostly Direct Play. If some cannot, pick May need transcoding. We do not currently have a verified transcode enclosure, so that label returns no purchase step — not a nearest 4-bay.

This planner assumes NAS-rated CMR drives. Desktop drives are a poor fit for a box that stays on. We still will not name a part number until a later compatibility layer.

A tiny verified set is the point. Every model has a public product page (V) and an editorial class (R). We will not pad the list with boxes we have not checked.
